Mozilla’s Firefox browser, like any other web browser, has improved dramatically in terms of performance and speed. Yet the basics remain the same. It always saves temporary files like style sheets and media so that it can load websites faster in case you revisit them. The problem arises when the browser has been going for a while and the accumulation of these temporary files starts to affect the performance of the browser. Firefox: desktop version

Step 1: In the desktop browser, click on the three-line menu button and select Settings.

Step 2: In the Settings window, select the Privacy & Security option on the left side of the window.

Step 3: A new window will appear. Scroll down and click on the Cookies and Site Data option. By clicking on the option, it will display information about the space that the site data, cache and stored cookies are using.

Step 4: Click on Clear data. A dialog box will appear with two options to choose from: first, cookies and site data, and second, cached web content.

Step 5: Select the preferred option or both, if necessary. Note: If you don’t want to lose your credentials, just choose Cached Web Content> Clear.

Google Chrome Removes Critical Security Feature, But There’s A Good Reason

Google Chrome is making a drastic change to one of its main security features, according to the latest beta update. In the latest version, which allows Google to test new features for stability before launch, the secure website icon has been removed.

As it stands, whenever you go to a secure website in Google Chrome, you will find a closed padlock icon next to the Omnibox (what Google calls the address bar / search bar) . This handy little indicator is designed to let Chrome users know when they have browsed to a website that supports the secure “HTTPS” protocol.

However, as the security blog Bleeping Computer reports, the latest beta of Chrome removes this completely.

When users navigate to an HTTPS website in Chrome Beta 93, the padlock icon no longer appears. This surprise security change isn’t a sign that Google is being lax when it comes to protecting Chrome users. Instead, the change was made because much of the sites on the internet are now secure.

Instead, Chrome users will only be notified when they navigate to a website that is not secure. As is currently the case, whenever Chrome users navigate to an HTTP website – which does not use the secure protocol, the Omnibox will display a warning triangle icon along with the Unsafe label. .

Mozilla Firefox to Deploy DNS over HTTPS for Canadian Users

Mozilla has decided to roll out DNS over HTTPS (DoH) functionality by default for Canadian Firefox users later this month.

The move comes after DoH has already been offered to US-based Firefox users since 2020.

Canada-based Mozilla Firefox users will soon begin to notice that DNS over HTTPS (DoH) is enabled by default, in a phased rollout.

Starting July 20, DoH will first be available to 1% of Canadian Firefox users, and eventually reach all Firefox users in Canada by September 2021.

DoH encrypts regular DNS traffic over HTTPS, with DNS queries and responses being forwarded on port 443, allowing traffic to blend seamlessly with regular traffic to HTTPS websites.

This not only provides end-to-end encryption to the user, but also extended privacy, as their DNS traffic now cannot be easily intercepted by a network administrator.

In contrast, the standard DNS protocol operating over UDP has no encryption, integrity assurance, or privacy protection:

Later this month, Firefox users in Canada will start seeing the pop-up (pictured above) starting July 20, asking them to approve or “turn off” DoH protections.

Users can also follow the steps below to switch between DoH providers, or opt out of DoH completely:

According to Mozilla, encrypting DNS queries and responses with DoH is just the first step.
